Keeping Fit
Along with eating healthily keeping active is one of the key ways to fight obesity. Even a little bit of exercise will make you feel better about yourself, boost your confidence and cut the risk of you developing a serious illness.
All adults should be doing 30minutes of physical activity a day. This doesn’t have to be playing sport or going to a gym. Walking to work or gardening can count.
Some easy ways of getting more exercise include:
- Go for a walk during your lunch hour
- Get off the bus a stop early and walk
- Use the stairs instead of the lift
Obesity
Obesity is fast becoming Britain’s major health problem. Obesity is when someone weighs too much for their height and sex. Anyone with a BMI (Body Mass Index) of over 30 is classed as obese. People become obese simply because you eat more calories than your body needs. In other words eating too much and not doing enough exercise. Being obese can lead to numerous health problems including diabetes, heart disease, stroke, high blood pressure, gallstones, osteoarthritis, infertility and depression.
